How to Install a Cupola

Below is a 12 step picture guide for installing cupolas.


1) Measure the pitch of your roof.


2) Mark the center of the box.

3) Transfer the roof angle.

4) Mark the curve of the peak.

5) Cut the roof angles.

6) Mark the box location.

7) Set four screw blocks.

8) Screw box to blocks.

9) Screw cupola to box.

10) Screw cupola cap in place.

11) Silicone seal the vane holder.

12) Set weathervane in place.

The steps above are for installing a cupola as an ornamental piece only. If you are going to be using your cupola as a functional air vent, you will need to take additional steps - including cutting the proper size hole in your roof, adding screening or mesh, and caulking with a silicone sealant.

It is also recommended that you use an all weather screening on the inside of the
 louvered section to keep bees, hornets, and other insects out!
